Dark Angels Update 11/2/2026

Greetings honored battle brethren! This is going to be a short one, because for some reason there were hardly any singles events over the weekend, leaving me with a grand total of two lists to look at. One of those lists was an event-winning one though, so that at least rates an article. 

Dylan Cowan is our triumphant brethren, who went 5-0 with his Assault Brethren+Darkflight Pursuit+Stormlance Task Force (T&H) list at Calling the Banners 2026, beating out 66 other players for the top spot. Let's check out his list!

Dylan brought a diverse toolkit to work with, which is never a bad way to go. It gives him all manner of solutions to problems his opponent's list may present him. He has a couple of high speed melee threats in the shape of Sammy's unit and the Imperium's Sword bike Chaplain with Outriders that no one wants to crash into their units. The Chaplain's unit is most likely a disposable missile Dylan can send into something that costs more than it does and have it smash it real good, where as Sammy's unit is going to be conducting hit-and-run attacks with the help of the Stormlance's Wind-Swift Evasion strat. Nothing like being able to move 14" at the end of the Fight phase. 

He's also got some pretty respectable Infantry melee threats, with the Librarian-led Inner Circle Companions and the shield-hammer Terminator Assault Squad. The Librarian is a handy add to the ICCs because Dylan can choose to either have him give the unit a 4++ save or be able to change their Advance roll to a 6, giving them an extended threat range. They also happen to have pretty good OC for a fairly small unit, which is no small consideration with a T&H list. The Terminator Assault Squad doesn't require much analysis. They're Toughness 6, 4 Wound guys with a 4++ save and Damage 3 attacks. They make "No, really, the center objective is mine" a pretty convincing argument.

Dylan's main shooting backup to his punchy units is a trio of Land Speeders Vengeance. The Vengeance is a versatile gun platform best used for picking up elite Infantry, but it'll do work into Monsters and Vehicles too, particularly if you're able to commit multiples of them into such targets. The Plasma storm battery profile kind of speaks for itself. In Dylan's list he can move these things 16" and shoot with them without making an Advance move, so drawing line of sight is not usually going to be a problem.

For being sure of dealing with tougher things the Vengeances may struggle to wound, Dylan has the Impulsor-riding melta Eradicators that are a popular choice right now. It's not hard to see why they're popular with that new Hunter profile for shooting into their preferred targets and the Impulsor to get them where they need to go faster and make it difficult for opponents to pick them up without dedicating real resources to doing so. 

For utility units, Dylan has the Company Heroes, a pair of Scout Squads, and the Ravenwing Knight Squad. The Company Heroes probably sit on the backfield objective until opponents have committed their reserve, them come off and help mix it up with smaller units or pick up damaged ones. The Scouts are good for an early-game screen and to keep opponents from using forward deployed units to block his bike units' ability to make that first turn dash across the table. The Ravenwing Knights are a cheap unit Dylan can send out to out-OC a small unit on an objective for a turn, which is likely all he needs them to do.

Dylan had a strong start to the event, crushing Bully+Flyboyz+KoS Orks (Recon) 90-54. 2nd round he brutalized Lions+MoM+Solar Custodes (T&H) 100-52. 3rd round he massacred Cybernetica+Eradication Mechanicus (T&H) 100-51. 4th round he scored a comfortable 92-78 against Emperor's Lions MoM Custodes (T&H). 5th round he ended strong by hammering Emperor's Lions MoM Custodes (T&H) 100-53. Dark Angels Update 10/12/2026: A New Meta

Greetings honored battle brethren, and welcome to the new meta! This was the weekend of throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. Unit Review: Sternguard Veterans

  Hello battle brethren! I've been geeking out about Sternguard Veterans lately, so I thought I'd do a quick review of them to bring them to the attention of the community as a whole.  So why am I so excited about Sternguard? Aren't they just fancy Intercessors? That's true to an extent. They have the same basic profile as Intercessors, with the exception of having 1 more attack on their close combat weapons. That includes the weapon upgrades the sergeant can take, so they get 4 attacks with a power fist if you take one.  They start to differ in their ranged weapon profiles. The Sternguard bolt rifle takes the Intercessor's bolt rifle and adds Rapid Fire 1 and Devastating Wounds. They have the option of side-grading to Combi-weapons, which are 1 shot S4 Rapid Fire 1 with Anti-infantry 4+ and Devastating Wounds.
