Meta Snapshot 3/30/2026

Greetings fellow 40K enthusiasts! It's a little later than I intended to get this out, but I've brought you the meta snapshot of the past weekend. If you want to know what factions are dominating 40K at the moment, I've got you.

This week there were three factions that scored 7+ top three results. Out of them, I judge T'au to be the Top Faction of the week, with the following results:
1st Place: 4
2nd Place: 2
3rd Place: 1
Mont'ka was the top T'au detachment, with 3 of the 1st place results and 1 of the 2nd place results. One 1st place and 2nd place result were scored with Retaliation Cadre, and the 3rd place result was scored with a Kroot Hunting Pack. A T'au Mont'ka list won the second biggest event of the weekend, The Sheffield 40K GT with 243 players.

I have to make a judgement call between the Number Two and Number Three factions, because they're pretty close. For the Number Two faction I'm choosing Chaos Space Marines, with the following results:
1st Place: 2
2nd Place: 4
3rd Place: 2
These results were spread across five different detachments. Huron's Marauders was the most prevalent, with 1 of the 1st place results, 2 of the 2nd place results, and 1 of the 3rd place results. A Renegade Raiders list took 2nd place at the biggest event of the weekend, the AdeptiCon 2026 40K Championship. A Chaos Cult list took 2nd place at Sheffield, a Pactbound Zealots list took a 1st place result, and a Creations of Bile took a 3rd place result. I gave CSMs the nod over the next faction because of the two 2nd place results at the two biggest events of the weekend.

The Number Three faction was Necrons, with 9 top three performances. Here's the breakdown of the results:
1st Place: 2
2nd Place: 4
3rd Place: 3
The Awakened Dynasty detachment was responsible for the lion's share of these results, being responsible for 2 each of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place lists. Starshatter Arsenal lists took the other 2nd place results, and a Cursed Legion list took the other 3rd place result.

After Necrons, the number of top three results collected by any particular faction drops off sharply. The only other factions to score more than one 1st place result are Ultramarines and the also-rans from Codex: Space Marines. Ultramarines scored two 1st Place results, including the win at AdeptiCon with a Blade of Ultramar list. The also-rans took two 1st Place results and one 2nd place result, with one of the 1st place results being a Salamanders Bastion Task Force, and the other top results being Iron Hands Hammer of Avernii lists.

Leagues of Votann accounted for 1 1st place list (Needgaârd Oathband) and 3 3rd place lists (2 Hearthbands, 1 Mercenary Oathband)

Astra Militarum picked up 1 1st place result with a Recon Element list and 2 2nd place results with Grizzled Company lists.

No other faction scored more than 2 top three results. Here's the rest of the pack in no particular order:

Admech (Haloscreed): 2nd place result.

GSC (Xenocreed): 2nd place result
GSC (Home Owners Association Host of Ascension): 3rd place result

Blood Angels (Rage): 2nd place result

Chaos Knights (Lords of Dread): 2nd place result
Chaos Knights (Infernal Lance): 2nd place result

Adeptus Sororitas (Hallowed): 3rd place result

Drukhari (Spectacle): 2nd place result

Imperial Knights (Questoris Companions) 3rd place result

Chaos Daemons (Scintillating): 1st place result
Chaos Daemons (Incursion): 3rd place result

Dark Angels (Wrath) 3rd place result

Deathwatch (Black Spear) 1st place result and 2rd place result

Orks (Green Tide): 3rd place result

Custodes (Shield Host) 1st place result

That, fellow enthusiasts, is what I have for you today. I'll make the effort to keep you appraised of what's doing well in the meta. I hope you find the information helpful to you. May all your games be fun ones!
