Meta Snapshot 3/23/2026

 

Hello fellow 40K enthusiast! It's a new week with new GT results from the weekend! I'm here to share with you which factions are at the top of the meta, and the armies and detachments that made the top 3 slots at their events.

The top faction of the weekend was once again Necrons, and by a wide margin to boot. Necron lists accounted for 4 of the 1st place results, 4 of the 2nd place results, and 1 of the 3rd place results for a total of 9 Top 3 placings. These results were spread across 5 detachments. 

Awakened Dynasty took 2x 1st Place results and 1x 2nd place results. 

Canoptek Court snagged 1x 1st place and 2nd place results,  with the 2nd place result at the second biggest event of the weekend, with 98 players. 

Starshatter Arsenal took 1x 1st place result and 2nd place result.

Hypercrypt Legion snagged 1x 2nd place result

Cursed Legion took the 3rd place result.

There was one datasheet that was in all but one of the top three scoring Necron lists, and it's not the one you probably think it is. I'd have assumed all of the top lists had the Nightbringer in them, and the majority do, but the Deceiver was the most common C'tan in the top lists. Probably worth your time to look up what that honkus does so you know what to expect when you see one.

The second from the top faction of the weekend was Chaos Space Marines. CSMs scored 3 of the 1st place results, 2 of the 2nd place results, and 1 of the 3rd place results. 

Renegade Raiders picked up 2 of the 1st place results and 2 of the 2nd place results.

Huron's Marauders picked up 1 of the 1st place results and the 3rd place result.

Ultramarines were the third from the top faction. They scored 2 of the 1st place results and 1 each of the 2nd and 3rd place results.

Gladius Task Force picked up 1 of the 1st place results.

Blades of Ultramar picked up 1 each of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place results.

The biggest event of the weekend was Cornwall Super Bash 2026. Deathwatch Black Spear Task Force took 1st and 3rd place at that event, with CSM Renegade Raiders taking 2nd place.

The second biggest event of the weekend was Broadsword Wargaming 40K ITC Seasonal Major IX. CSM Huron Marauders took 1st place, Necron Canoptek Court took 2nd place, and Thousand Sons Rubricae Phalanax took 3rd place.

Here's all the other faction and detachment combos that managed to rise to the top 3 of their events.

Thousand Sons were right behind Ultramarines, with Rubricae Phalanx scoring 1x 1st place result and 2x 3rd place results, and Grand Coven scoring 1x 1st place result. 

Custodes Talons of the Emperor scored 1x each 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place results. Solar Spearhead scored 1x 2nd place result.

T'au Mont'ka scored 1x 1st place, 1x 2nd place, and 3x 3rd place results.

Deathwatch Black Spear Task Force picked up one each of 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place results.

Ork War Horde picked up 1x 1st place result, and Freebooter Krew 1x 2nd place result.

Deathguard Motarian's Hammer picked up 1x 1st place result, and Virulent Vectorum 1x 2nd place result.

World Eaters Goretrack Onslaught picked up 1x 1st place and 1x 3rd place results.

1x 1st place results were scored each by Emperor's Children Rapid Evisceration, AdMech Haloscreed Battle Clade, and Tyranid Invasion Fleet.

Black Templars scored 2x 2nd place results with the Bastion Task Force.

Imperial Knights picked up 1x 2nd place result and 2x 3rd place results with Questoris Companions, and one more 3rd place result with Valorous Lance.

Blood Angels scored a 2nd place result with Angelic Inheritors and a 3rd place result with Rage-cursed Onslaught.

Chaos Knights picked up a 2nd place result with Houndpack Lance and a 3rd place result with Iconoclast Fiefdom.

Dark Angels scored a 2nd place result with Wrath of the Rock.

Astra Militarum Grizzled Company (Grizzletarum) picked up 2x 3rd place results.

Space Marines (Raven Guard) picked up a 3rd place result with Shadowmark Talon.

Space Marines (Salamanders) picked up a 3rd place result with Forgefather's Seekers.

Hello battle brethren! It was a lighter weekend than usual due to the July 4th holiday over here in the United States, but the rest of the world didn't stop having 40K events. We had four lists go X/0 or X/1 over the weekend, and all of them were Wrath of the Rock lists. Over three times as many players played Wrath lists as all the other detachments combined over the weekend. Lists of the Week: 4/7/2025

    Hello battle brethren! Another weekend has passed, and with it comes some glory for the First Legion chapter! It is my honor to bring you word of our brethren who have performed well at the weekend's events. As of this writing, Meta Monday hasn't updated yet, so I'm going with the simple expedient of going through BCP's event listings in order, and much to my surprise and delight, I got a hit on the first one. Not only that, but a Dark Angels list won the event, the USA Charity Cup played in Boulder City, NV, a 6-round, 40 player event. Evan Stump of Xenos Petting Zoo went 5-1 with a Gladius Task Force and took 1st place, breaking like a 3-month streak of no event wins for Dark Angels! Chapter Update: 6/30/2025

  Hello battle brethren! Another weekend is behind us, and over that weekend many of us did battle on tables worldwide (not me, I was NPCing a LARP). Statistics indicate that collectively we're struggling to keep our heads above water, but there are some good results to talk about. I have 4 lists I want to talk about, and 3 of them are bespoke Dark Angels detachments! Even more wild, 2 of them are Company of Hunters lists, and one of those lists is an event winner! Let's take a look at these lists and see what we can learn from them.  We'll do the logical thing and start with the event winner.
