Meta Snapshot 3/2/2026

Hello brethren! So I thought to myself, since I was going through the data from Best Coast Pairings for my weekly Dark Angels update, I might as well also make note of what armies are winning events. Then I figured as long as I was doing that, I might as well make note of the top three armies at every event. Once I figured out a way to record that data in a way that isn't too difficult to interpret, I thought I might share the information with all of you. Because clearly the weekly Dark Angels update isn't enough work!

Anyhow, the faction at the top of the meta for the first weekend of March was Necrons. I'm sure that comes as no surprise. Necrons had a total of 6 lists make the top three at events. The most successful detachment was Starshatter Arsenal, with 1 win, 2 second-place results, and 1 third-place result. Pantheon of Woe got 1 win and 1 second-place result, and Cursed Legion took 1 win. 

The faction with the next-most top three lists was Astra Militarum, all of which being Grizzled Company lists. No event winners were GrizzleTarum lists, but 3 second-place lists and 1 third-place list were GrizzleTarum lists.

In third place for top lists, we have Aeldari. An Aspect Host list took an event first place. A Seer Council list scored a second place result. A Serpent's Brood list scored a 3rd place result.

That's the quick snapshot of last weekend's meta, just in time for the upcoming weekend. If you take away one thing from this, it's that you're apt to need a plan for playing into Necrons. If you're attending an event this weekend, I wish you luck, unless you're playing against Dark Angels, because my first loyalty is always to the legion chapter. For the Lion!

Hello battle brethren! It was a lighter weekend than usual due to the July 4th holiday over here in the United States, but the rest of the world didn't stop having 40K events. We had four lists go X/0 or X/1 over the weekend, and all of them were Wrath of the Rock lists. Chapter Update: 6/30/2025

  Hello battle brethren! Another weekend is behind us, and over that weekend many of us did battle on tables worldwide (not me, I was NPCing a LARP). Statistics indicate that collectively we're struggling to keep our heads above water, but there are some good results to talk about. I have 4 lists I want to talk about, and 3 of them are bespoke Dark Angels detachments! Even more wild, 2 of them are Company of Hunters lists, and one of those lists is an event winner! Let's take a look at these lists and see what we can learn from them.  We'll do the logical thing and start with the event winner. Lists of the Week: 4/7/2025

    Hello battle brethren! Another weekend has passed, and with it comes some glory for the First Legion chapter! It is my honor to bring you word of our brethren who have performed well at the weekend's events. As of this writing, Meta Monday hasn't updated yet, so I'm going with the simple expedient of going through BCP's event listings in order, and much to my surprise and delight, I got a hit on the first one. Not only that, but a Dark Angels list won the event, the USA Charity Cup played in Boulder City, NV, a 6-round, 40 player event. Evan Stump of Xenos Petting Zoo went 5-1 with a Gladius Task Force and took 1st place, breaking like a 3-month streak of no event wins for Dark Angels!
