This week's list is a Stormlance Task Force that was played by Alex Stewart of Mid-Life Wargaming at the Winchester 40K GT - November 2025, a 5-round, 47 player event held Winchester, England. You can see Alex's list on BCP. We'll analyze it below.

This is a nice, well-balanced Dark Angels Stormlance list, with Deathwing, Ravenwing, and Greenwing all represented. The Deathwing element comes in the two Deathwing Knight squads and Azrael and the Sternguard Veteran Squads. Deathwing Knights are a known quality choice, being top-level durable and high-level punchy. The Sternies are a good tool for overcoming units with pesky overlapping defenses, and pairing them with Azrael both boosts their damage output and considerably improves their defensive profile.
The Ravenwing are represented by Sammael and a Ravenwing Command Squad, each paired with a small squad of Outriders. These make some nice early skirmishing units that can rush out ahead of Lion Dad and the Deathwing Knights, pick off opponents' forward-deployed units, and speedbump their efforts to get out of their deployment zones. Thanks to the Outriders' charge buff, the Ravenwing Champion gets to be Strength 6 Damage 3 on the charge, and Sammy gets to be Strength 7 Damage 3, which will pick up even pretty elite infantry. The Shock Assault Strat will help them punch up into tougher targets as needed. Plus, both units have not-inconsiderable shooting, particularly the one with the Ravenwing Command Squad. Nine plasma shots within 9" is nothing to sneeze at.
The Greenwing contingent is mostly comprised of Alex's utility units, with one notable exception. The utility units are the Intercessors, the Combi-Lieutenant, and two squads of Scouts. The Intercessors hold the backfield objective, the Combi-Lieutenant can hold down an objective and score Secondaries, and the Scouts forward-deploy to hold open lanes of advance for Alex's Ravenwing, and then do uppy-downy secondary scoring. The notable exception is the Vindicator, which is capable of uncorking a bottle of pain on any unit in the game. It's not super-fast, but Blitzing Fusillade will let it Advance and Shoot, which is a threat to a considerable amount of the board. Plus, at Toughness 11 with a 2+ save, it takes some dedicated effort to pick up, and its shooting is unaffected by being locked in combat.
1st round Alex delivered a 99-67 thumping to Mont'ka T'au. 2nd round was a relatively tight 71-60 against Liberator Blood Angels. 3rd round he drubbed Obesiance Phalanx Necrons 96-65. 4th round he suffered a 58-82 loss against Inheritors Blood Angels. He ended strong though, pummeling War Horde Orks 81-49 in the 5th round. Well done Alex!
Statistics
I get why there weren't a lot of GTs in the United States over the weekend, but I'm surprised at how few events there seem to have been worldwide. A total of 13 players took Dark Angels to GTs with 20 or more players. They played 68 games and won 30 of them, for a lackluster 47% win rate. One list went X/1.
Wrath of the Rock was the most played, with 9 players who scored a 44% win rate.
The Stormlance was played by 3 players who managed a 50% win rate and brought home the one X-result.
One player used a Company of Hunters, sadly only scoring a 20% win rate.
That, honored battle brethren, is what I have for you. Be sure to check out Dank List Wargaming and Black Crow Gaming on YouTube for quality Dark Angels content. As always, I hope you find my work entertaining and informative. May it help you strive to be ever victorious! For the Lion!
