List Review: Kyle Lamperez's Ironstorm Spearhead

Being a Dark Angels fan, I like to browse Goonhammer's Meta Monday page and see what First Legion lists did well the previous weekend. Today, the first list I noticed was Kyle Lamperez's Ironstorm Spearhead, which placed. with which he placed 4th out of 59 players at the 5-round Feliz Exterminatus in Saint Robert, Missouri. He went 4-1 with this list, scored 80 points on his loss, and his next lowest score was an 88, so clearly there's something to be said for both the list and the skill with which it was played. Here's the list, copied direct from the Best Coast Pairing entry.

As you can see, the only Dark Angels specific unit in this list is Azrael. No shock that someone would use Azrael. I expect he assigned Azzy to the Assault Intercessor Squad (which I consider one of the better squads to assign him to) and have them ride in the Land Raider Redeemer. Past that, there's not much that's remarkably different from a list you might play with any other chapter. A pair of Techmarines with the two Aura Enhancements, a pair Ballistus Dreads, a pair of Redemptor Dreads, a pair of Gladiator Lancers, and of course the Redeemer. For infantry, there's the 10-man squad of Assault Intercessors, a 5 man squad of Intercessors, and two squads of 3 plasma Inceptors. I imagine the Intercessors mind a backfield objective and the Inceptors are there to score secondaries, just like in everyone else's Space Marine lists. No shade on that, we use them thusly because they're extremely good for that. The merits and tech of the Ironstorm Spearhead are already well documented elsewhere, so I won't go into that. I'll just say congratulations to Kyle for such a good showing!

1  Hello battle brothers! I bring news of the most successful Dark Angels list from the past weekend. It was a slow weekend for major tournaments due to a prominent religious holiday, but a few events were held, and a Dark Angels list took the top score at one of them.  I had to make a profile on  MiniHeadquarters.com  to look at this list, so I don't know the player's name, only his username - Golgoths31. This is a shame, because his list is very different from the usual Ironstorm Spearheads we've been seeing take high scores at events these past few months. Golgoths31 apparently said (in French), "You know what? Lists of the Week: Top Performers 11/4/2024

  Hello battle brethren! It was a good weekend for Dark Angels! We had two event winners and four other players rank highly at events. It certainly appears that our top players are managing with the points increased inflicted on us. Without further ado, let's take a look at what they're doing.  Beginning with our event winners, I'll start with Jak Payne, who took a Stormlance Task Force to go 5-0 and take first place at the Dark Sphere November GT, a 5-round, 64-player event held in England. Lists of the Week: Top Performers 8/12/2024

 Hello battle brothers! Once again, I'm here to provide you a roundup of the best performing lists of the weekend. Unfortunately, we didn't have any event winners this weekend, but we did have some undefeated players and players that went X-1, so let's get into those. By far the biggest event of the weekend was the World Team Championship held in Mechelen, Belgium. At the WTC, forty 8-man teams competed against each other. A member of the 4th placed Team Sweden, Jesper Unander-Scharin, was the 2nd place individual player, going undefeated with a Dark Angels Gladius! In the placings, his list is actually entered as Space Marines (Astartes), but I've learned to click to see those lists, because I've found they're often Dark Angels lists.
